Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs are robust, very energy-efficient, and typically last around 100,000 hours. FlareSafe uses four high-power LEDs to produce a powerful beam.
The torch has three working settings: full beam, half beam (a reading light), and flashing. To turn on the torch, simply push the front orange button - each push cycles the torch through to the next setting. And if the torch is on any one setting for more than five seconds, the next push will turn the torch off.
Last but not least, FlareSafe comes supplied with three batteries. Without getting overly technical, two of them (the AA batteries) operate all of the functions, all of the time. Once the AAs run out of power, the third battery (the lithium) takes over all emergency functions.
That means your FlareSafe will still work as a smoke detector and as a distress alarm – even when both AA batteries are drained. And no less importantly, the advanced software will tell you when the back-up lithium battery is running low on power. This way you know when you are protected, and you will immediately know when you are not.
